Finally Ecosport is here

Ford has been testing our patience for a long time. They kept the launch of Ecosport on delay for such a long time. Finally they launched Ecosport on 26th June 2013 with a starting price of 5.69 lakhs (Delhi). Ecosport is the first compact SUV to be launched in India.


Ford Ecosport  will offer huge trouble for Renault Duster as Ecosport is way cheap and stylish than Duster. Renault Duster had good response in the market with the SUV selling  an average of 5000 units per month. Duster is a good SUV with sufficient off roding capability and features. But price tag is a bit high,7.5 to 12 lakhs. On the other hand Ecosport with the same specs is almost 2 lakhs cheaper than Duster.

As we expected Ecosport is available in three engine options.

• 1.5 l Petrol Manual and Automatic 
• 1.5 l Diesel
• 1 l Ecoboost                              

 The 1.5 l  petrol is avaliable in manual and automatic gearbox. It has max power of about 112 PS while top end varient of Duster has just 105 PS of max power. It is available in Ambiente(5.69 Lakhs), Trend(6.63 lakhs) and Titanium(7.64 lakhs) Variant. The titanium variant will have some  useful and handy features like ABS, airbags,Climate Control and a 2 DIN audio system with voice recognition and bluetooth. This engine will drink more fuel and the mileage will be comparatively less,

The 1.5 l Diesel has got 91 HP of power which may be a bit low. But will offer a good fuel economy around 22 km/l(average). The diesel also has a Titanium(O) Varient with some pricy features. The diesel is priced from 6.61 to 9.16 lakhs. The diesel engine is a practical choice, but you wont get the adrenaline and pleasure while cruising.

My Favourite is off course the 1.0 l Ecoboost engine with almost 125 HP of power(same as that of Mercedes Benz A class). I guarantee it will have  an average mileage of 20km/l.  If you want real fun and speed then Ecoboost engine is a better option. It is comes in two options Titanium and Titanium optional priced  8.00 lakhs and 8.44 lakhs.

Attractive styling and smart set of features and  really aggressive price tag will surely help Ecosport. The aerodynamic design will make it more efficient too.
