Car Insurance, what to do after your car was in an accident.

Most people will have an experience when their car was damaged or even completely destroyed in an accident. In that sort of situation we only think about our lives not about the car or its insurance policy. But in minor accidents where nothing has happened to you, you should be aware of your insurance.

Here are some tips which help your claim get approved by the company after the accident.
  • Take picture of the accident showing the condition of your vehicle.
  • Contact the insurance company as soon as possible as they may need to do site investigation(in major accidents only.)
  • Note the Registration number of the other vehicle which was involved in accident with you.
  • Write a detailed report about the accident in white paper including date and place of the accident. This is the most important part. The report should be as realistic as possible. It should explain how the accident occurred, and how each part of the car was damaged. Don not forget to mention any part.
  • Contact the dealer so that they may take the car for repairs in their service station.
  • Submit the accident report to the company directly or via dealer.
  • Check the bill the dealer gives you after the repairs, they may not have repaired the car completely, or there is even chance for them stealing a part of the claim.
  • Do not claim insurance for minor damages such as scratches.
  • Make sure that the replaced parts of the car are genuine and company made.
