Maruthi SX4 facelift spied, arrival in March
Maruthi Suzuki SX4 was a sluggish seller for Maruthi. The car is a generic C segment sedan from Maruthi which is priced around 10 lakhs. The SX4 is the price place where Maruthi kingdom ends in Indian car market. The original SX4 was launched back in 2007 and from there the car has not got much response from the Indians.

New Maruthi Suzuki Astar Spied
We got some spy pics of the next generation Maruthi Suzuki A star. Internationally known as Suzuki Alto the Astar was one of the staple cars of Suzuki. But in India we are forced to say that A-star was a flop. Its currently selling 500 -800 units per month while Hyundai i10 sells 8000 units per month.
So Maruthi will launch the face-lifted Astar in India. The major problem of the face-lifted Astar was cabin and boot space. But the spy images suggests that the car will be more larger than the current car. It is clearly visible that the length and height has been increased. We expect the length to be 3650 mm(with 150 mm increase), the height to be 1550 mm and wheelbase to be 2360 mm to offer more space.
Suzuki will also increase boot space and may also increase the power on the new engine. No other specs have been revealed about the new Astar. This is just the early stage prototype so nothing more is visible to us.
According to the spy images the Astar will get some exterior tweaks as well. The tail-lamps and headlamps are new as it suggests. The interior plastics and features will be upgraded as well.
We expect the car to get a more powerful petrol engine putting it in sub B class segment. The new Astar will be codenamed YL
Maruthi will launch the face-lifted Astar on early 2014.

Maruthi Suzuki Hybrid car project
I have for you surprising news. Could you even dream of Maruthi Suzuki developing something new in Indian market? You don't have to Maruthi has confirmed that they are planning to develop an electric car for India.
Maruthi will develop a hybrid which can run on petrol and electricity as well. The car is made with the help of engineers from Suzuki.
Maruthi said that the project has just began and they have not decided specs and platform about their hybrid car.The technology they will use for he hybrid cars will be unknown. However we can expect the hybrid car on Indian roads by 2016 or lesser.
Indian costumers did not have a good opinion about electric cars. The sales of Reva vehicles shows that. Maruthi knows that Indian is a path starved country were electric vehicles are ignored. Diesel prices are also being hiked in India like petrol.Government has given the companies the right to increase diesel prices according to their wish. So we can expect future price hikes as well.
So there is large potential for electric and hybrid cars in the future. Maruthi Suzuki knows that. The major challenge that Maruthi face in this project is to keep the price tag under 10 lakhs. That is a high mountain to climb.
So what is your reaction towards Maruthi's hybrid project. Share those valuable views with us on the comments
