We have already informed you that Maruthi is planning to launch a Cross over version of the SX4 known as S-cross in India. Suzuki has unveiled the production variant of the S-cross at Geneva motor show. The concept variant was showcased back in Detroit.

Suzuki is selling the old SX4 cross-over in some countries like China. This cross-over will replace the current S -cross over in China. We can expect this car in India by 2014. Indian car market is declining and SUVS and Cross-overs are the only scope left to regain the strength. Inspired by the strength of Renault Duster Suzuki will place this car as a rival to Duster in the 10 lakhs price tag.

The SX4 cross-over has some striking looks much attractive than the S sedan running on Indian roads. The Cross shares some genes with the S -sedan at front fascia, but the rest of the cross is unique. The cross-over has day time running LEDS integrated onto the petal headlamps. A pentagonal shape has enclosed the grille and the number plate neatly.  Off roding highlights are black plastic cladding all around at the bottom , high ground clearance and large wheels. The cross has a swooping roof-line and elegant waist lines carved out at the profile. The rear looks like a typical cross-over with wrapped around taillights and scooped out tail.

The Cross-over is has to powering options, the 1.6 l petrol or the 1.6 l diesel. The petrol engine is mated to manual a 7-speed CVT gearbox with steering mounted paddle shifts. The cross-over has 4WD option available too. the Indian version of the car is more likely to share the 1.3 l Multijet and the 1.5 l petrol from the S-sedan.

The SX4 -Cross over is much bigger too.The car is 4300 mm long 1765 mm wide and 1575 mm tall. But the Indian version will be a sub-4 m Cross-over. Wheel base is 2600 mm and the car has 16 205/60 R16 or 205-50 R17 tires depending on your choice. The car has boot-space of a massive 430 l too. Emission levels are 110g/km on the diesel and 136g/km on the diesel.

The SX4 Cross-over will arrive in India by 2014 to celebrate the coupling SUV fest.
