Something hot is happening under Volkswagen.We don't exactly know what it is but we have got some information about it. Latest updates show that Volkswagen is creating a new badge name and selling cars is developing markets under that badge name.The new badge name is 'Tantus'.



Volkswagen plans to launch three cars under Tantus badge name by 2016. Tantus car will be sold in markets like India and Russia. Volkswagen will launch the Taigun in India at 2015.

The  new Taigun is actually an SUV based on the Volkswagen UP platform.It was displayed at Sau Polo motor show in October.Taigun measures 3860 mm in length 1730 mm of width and 1570 mm of height.Taigun also has 2470mm of wheelbase.So Taigun is a sub 4 m SUV and it could benefit from low excise duties.

Volkswagen Taigun like Ford Eco sport will be powered by a 1 l turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 HP of power and 175Nm of Torque.The engine has an outstanding mileage of 21.6km/l.The car will reach 100km with just 9.2 seconds with top speed 187 km/h.But we are not sure Volkswagen will produce this engine for Indian market because of its high expense.

It is likely that Taigun will get a 1.5 l diesel engine in India.The current 1.6GDi engine will be re sculpted to 1.5 to fit in Taigun bonnet and benefit from lower excise duties.Taigun will have a  6 speed manual gearbox to do the shifting.

The exteriors of Taigun looks like a Polaris off roader.But Taigun has an unique and interesting styling.The interiors of the SUV is said to be smart phone inspired blue theme.

What will be the badge name of Taigun.Tantus Taigun or Volkswagen Taigun or both, we don't know it yet.

Taigun will pose some serous competition to Ford Eco Sport and Renault Duster.
