Well we are totally in a perplexed
situation. A Hyundai i20 with just three doors was spotted in Pune in
India. Where did it come from? Hyundai has a 3-door variant of i20
selling international. The 3 door i20 is famous in Europe as
Europeans love hot hatchbacks and have different cars for different
purposes. A compact hatchback for daily duties and a large sedan or
SUV more family outings.
But the car is not at all practical in
India most car buyers in India are looking for the most suitable car
for their family and 3 doored cars are not practical for Indians at
all. Its really a pain to enter the back seat as you have to fold up
the front seat and enter the back seat through a narrow way.
The three door i20 caught in Pune had a
private numberplate and it was registered in Maharashtra. But from
were in the hell did it spawn out. Hyundai is not producing 3-door
i20s for India. In my knowledge the only three door car in India is
the iconic Mini Cooper S hatch (available only in 3-doors)
The three door i20 spied looks more
sporty and has a youthful DNA embedded in it. The front doors are
more wider and the profile of the car looks very appealing for teens
and youths of India who don't have a family. The window line and the
glass area of the three door variant is sculpted in a trendy way.
It seems like the 3-door version is
shorter in terms of length too. The 3-door i10 is powered by the same
1.2l Kappa engine as on regular i10.
So this car is not a test mule, some
one in India owns it. Hyundai is definitely not producing three door
varmints of i20 for India. Most probably Hyundai may have
manufactured this three door variant on special orders of costumers
or the car could be owned by an Indian settled in Europe and he
decided to bring his car along with him to India.

you could have checked the details on the side panel sticker (if readable). it usually says- HMIL if the car is manufactured in india..
