New Maruthi Suzuki Astar Spied

We got some spy pics of the next generation Maruthi Suzuki A star. Internationally known as Suzuki Alto the Astar was one of the staple cars of Suzuki. But in India we are forced to say that A-star was a flop. Its currently selling 500 -800 units per month while Hyundai i10 sells 8000 units per month.

So Maruthi will launch the face-lifted Astar in India. The major problem of the face-lifted Astar was cabin and boot space. But the spy images suggests that the car will be more larger than the current car. It is clearly visible that the length and height has been increased. We expect the length to be 3650 mm(with 150 mm increase), the height to be 1550 mm and wheelbase to be 2360 mm to offer more space.

Suzuki will also increase boot space and may also increase the power on the new engine. No other specs have been revealed about the new Astar. This is just the early stage prototype so nothing more is visible  to us.

According to the spy images the Astar will get some exterior tweaks as well. The tail-lamps and headlamps are new as it suggests. The interior plastics and features will be upgraded as well.

We expect the car to get a more powerful petrol engine putting it in sub B class segment. The new Astar will be codenamed YL

Maruthi will launch the face-lifted Astar on early 2014.
