Nissan going to launch a more cheaper varient of Micra

Nissan India is desperate. They are not getting any sales at all. Nissan Micra is priced on the upper hills of premium hatchbacks segment. Nissan launched the Micra back in 2010 but it did not make a massive impact due to the steep price.

The low cost Micra was spied testing in Chennai a few days back. The spied one had covered tail lamps which suggests a new tail lamp cluster for the low cost Micra. Nissan may make some minor changes to the front as well to distinguish low cost Micra from the rest.

Nissan is planning a more cheaper version of the Micra which will compete against Hyundai i10 and Suzuki Ritz. The low cost Micra is codenamed GO2A will be RS 70000 less than the current base variants which are priced 4.23 lakhs( petrol) and 5.98 lakhs(diesel). Nissan will launch the new Micra in March 2013. So the low cost Micra will start with a base price of 3.50 lakhs for the petrol and 5.20 lakhs for the diesel.

To cut the cost Nissan will remove some features which are available n the current Micra. The exteriors will be the same. But there will be a massive change in interiors.

The new low cost Micrawill get the following features only
  • Power steering
  • Power windows front
  • Basic Driver information display
  • Body colored bumpers and door handles.
  • 13inch steel wheels
  • fixed headrests
  • Immobilizer
  • Manual AC
Nissan is offering discounts of RS 60000 on the petrol Micra to increase sales. Currently Micra is selling a decent 1500 units per month . This will increase with the arrival of the budget Micra.
