The new Jeep Liberty is a fully different vehicle. We are not sure even if the name will be liberty. The SUV is likely to be renamed as Jeep Cherokee. A completly new set up is expected for the new Jeep Liberty. But the SUV will retain its off roding dynamics and gadgets.
Jeep won't tamper the current exterior styling. They will do some minor make overs to make the car a current thing. We can expect plenty of changes inside the cabin and on the mechanicals front.
The new Liberty will be based on the CUSW platform which is also shared by the new Dodge Dart and Fiat Viaggio. The old engine will be replaced by the cut down version of the 3.6 l V6 Pentasar engine. The downsized engine will be 3.2 l and be arranged as a V6. The engine will be mated to Jeeps new 9 speed automatic transmission.
Jeep has currently slated three models for India including Jeep Grand Cherokee Wrangler and the Wrangler long wheel base version. There is strong potential for the new Liberty in Indian market and Jeep would think about it in the coming days.
