Honda CRV launch in new Delhi

Honda was able to reduce pries by exporting the car in CDK manner and assembling  the car locally to benefit from high duties. The assembling of the new CRV will be done in Honda factory in Noida. The new Honda CRV is more affordable than the old one and it is priced competitively in the segment. So we can expect a slight boost in the sales of the new CRV

The new CRV is priced from 19.95 to 23.85 lakhs which puts it right at the blast zone. The old CRV was priced from 22.91 to 25.15 lakhs which was way above the segment.

One life to live many
But the bad news is that it still doesn't have a diesel engine. So how do you think CRV will survive in the Indian car market. Honda thinks that the aggressive pricing will help CRV to overcome the lack of diesel engine. Now Honda CRV base variant is priced 40 thousand cheaper than the segment king Toyota Fortuner s base variant.

Honda said they won't launch the diesel CRV for in India in near future. A diesel is available for the world market but that engine can't adapt with Indian conditions and because Indian diesel has higher sulfur content in it.

Honda CRV gets more powerful engines as well. The 2.0 l petrol engine produces 156 HP of power instead of the 143 HP in older variant and the 2.4 l petrol produces a whooping 190 HP of power instead of 161 HP on the outgoing version. All the variants expect for the base variant are mated with a five speed automatic transmission while the base gets a six speed manual version. According to ARAI the economy of the 2.0 l petrol engine is 13.7 km/l and the 2.4 l engine retains 12km /l of mileage as well.  The new Honda CRV has  an Eco mode which increases mileage further.

Any way a face-lift was necessary for the Honda CRV. As the car sold just about 200 units in 2012 while the class leader Fortuner sold almost 12000 units. Although the face lift will strengthen the sales of the CRV it severely lacks a diesel engine?
