We had reported that Honda will launch
a new SUV in India at the entry UV segment. Honda displayed the Urban
SUV concept at Detroit motor show and the new SUV will be based on
this concept. Here we have got some rendered images of the upcoming
Honda SUV done by render specialist Mr Renato Aspromonte.The rendered SUV is slightly different from the Urban SUV concept shown in Detroit motor show.From the skin we can say that the SUV will be an ideal city slicker SUV which is compact and easy to run in traffic, also this SUV will drink less fuel too. So this SUV will be a soft rodder and will not be a good off-rodder . Any way the Urban SUV is a good styled vehicle and will have a some demand in the Indian market.
The car has been given rising fender
and a swooping roof line to from a triangular profile. The car
certainly has a sporty and aggressive looks. The designer has not
shown the rear door handles as they have been inbuilt on the the C
pillar.
The Urban SUV is based on the Jazz
platform which is a really flexible platform. Current Jazz, Next Gen City and the Urban SUV all are based on this platform. The Urban SUV will be powered by a 1.8 l petrol engine and a 1.6 l I VTEC diesel engine.
The problem Honda will be facing about Urban SUV launch in India is that the car is 4.3 m long, So it can't get benefits of a compact car. Honda may redesign the rear for India or manufacture the vehicle completely in India to price the SUV competitively.
The urban SUV will compete against Renault Duster and Upcoming Ford Eco-sport.
