Mahindra Reva is currently is the only electric car manufacturing company in India. We have recently spied an E20 in Bangalore which is registered by RTO. So that means the launch of Mahindra E20 is closing in. The current Reva plant is located near Bangalore.
We can expect the launch of E20 in the next week or so. It is more likely that the E20 will be launched after the Union budget 2013 which is scheduled in February 28. So the most probable launch date for E20 will be March 1st. mahindra is hoping to get some special privilages or tax reduction for eletric car E20 in the union budget.
The E20 is a far more advanced electric car than the old Reva-i. The top speed of E20 is 103 km/h which is larger than that of Reva-i. The E20 will have a range of 100 km after full charge. Most importantly the E20 is a four seater. It has more room and space than the Reva-i. But the E20 will be a bit pricey with a price tag around five lakhs.

The E20 not only be produced for India. It will be exported to 27 left hand drive countries including UK. While the E20 replaces Reva-i in exporting markets both cars will coexist in India. Mahindra is also planning a telemetric version of Verito sedan and Maximo sedan in the coming years.
The new E20 is a nice looking car. The car look more modern and attractive which reduces the small bug feel. The trapezoidal grille and the around headlamps in the front looks good enough.The window line curves down at the profile and merges with the tail lamps handsomely. We can expect conventional power windows for the E20. The rear gets a whole glass tail gate and squarish wrap around tail lamps. All in all the new styling language makes the E20 look like a more bigger and powerful car.
Hike of fuel prices and consequences of environment pollution has increased the relevance of Mahindra E20. The diesel prices will reach 60 by the end of 2013. So here will be a huge demand for E20 and other electric cars from Reva in the coming years.
