Mercedes Benz has now came up with one more vehicle in the MPFI platform. The GLA cross over. The GLA cross over stands in between the CLA sedan and the GLK class.
So we can say GLA class is a cross over based on the A class. The concept model of GLA will be showcased at Shanghai motor show in April 2013 and the production model will be shown Frankfurt motor show in September 2013. We can expect the GLA cross over on showrooms in December 2013.
GLA will compete with BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mini country man. So there is going to be some really tight competition here. GLA will be a more versatile and uniquely styled car than the rest.
The GLA will be powered by the 2.0 l engine which is powering the CLA too. This engine can produce 208 HP of power which is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch Auto matic transmission. The car will be offered on both FWD and AWD as well.
The AMG version of the GLA called GLA 45 AMG has also been spied. The AMG version is likely to share same the engine from the upcoming A 45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG. The engine will be 2.0 l and power is expected to be around 335 HP.
Mercedes will launch the GLA class soon in India. Mercedes has no contender to fight the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. So the GLA class will be their wrestler to fight these competitors. Currently M class is the cheapest Merc SUV with 45 lakhs of price tag. The GLA class when laundered will be priced close to BMW X1 and Audi Q3 making it the cheapest Merc SUV in India. The GLA class will be launched in India in early 2014.
