Toyota Etios Liva 1.5 launch in April

Toyota will launch the hot hatch version of the Liva on April 2013. The hot hatch features a 1.5 l petrol engine borrowed from Toyota Etios. The power would be increased from 79 to 90 HP(11 HP more) and torque from 110 to 132 Nm. With the Liva hatch launch Toyota targets to drive swiftticised (tempted by swift)  young Indians towards them.

The Liva hot hatch will also get a TRD sportivo kit as well. The kit offers new alloy wheels racing decals and even some more sporty features in the Liva 1.5. The main reason for Liva to be left unnoticed was its bland interiors and fade exterior design. Toyota will try to make Liva more hot with some considerable changes to the interiors. The dashboard colors, central console and seat fabrics will be changed.

The new Liva 1.5 hatchbacks suspension will be re tuned. Toyota will stiffen the chassis to support the 1.5 l engine. The dampers will be tuned as well to make the 1.5 l Liva a sporty handler like Etios. So Liva plans to attract youth with good performance and precise handling. Toyota will price the Liva 1.5 35000 to 40000 rupees higher than the 1.2 l petrol variant. The 1.5 l engine should pay additional excise duties.

The current 1.2 l hatch and the 1.4 l diesel will continue selling along with the Liva 1.5. Liva is the only hot hatch available in Indian market(hot hatch should have 1.5 l engine). Liva was selling languid in the past months with just 2000 units. But the Volkswagen Polo 1.6 and Skoda Fabia 1.6 were discontinued as they were left without any buyers. Will the Liva 1.5 too suffer the same faith. Well it depends on the pricing and mileage of the car.

But Liva was not a big success. It had poor interiors, high cost and a timid engine
