Chervolet Enjoy MPV launch on April 2013

Chevrolet Sail sedan was launched a few says back. Now GM(General Motors) said that they will launch the enjoy MPV on April 2013. The Enjoy MPV is actually the re badged Wuling Hongguang MPV solid in China.

The Enjoy MPV will share the same platform with sail and sail sedan. Wuling Hongguang got a face-lift recently in China. But Enjoy MPV will be based on the old version of  Wuling Hongguang. The car will get some necessary changes to the design to make it appealing to the Indian market.

The Enjoy MPV is the first pure MPV from Chevrolet. But its design looks so tall and boxy like a van other than a car. From front view the MPV is more car like thanks to the long bonnet and sleekly headlamps. But the tall stance at the sides and cut off rear (too much squared) creates a van feeling.

The interiors of the MPV will be throughly re-styled for Indian market. The dash colors and seat fabrics will be according to Indian like. But the rest will be shaped  the bland interiors from sail twins.

The Enjoy MPV will have two engine options. The same 1.2 l petrol and the 1.3 l turbo diesel on the Sail. Usually MPV s are offered on diesel power plant only in India. May be GM  added the petrol version because of the price hike of diesel. Enjoy is the third MPV to have both petrol and diesel options.(others Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova)The petrol engine will develop max power of 86 HP  and max torque of 140 Nm. The engine will be re-tuned and gear ratios will be changed to carry the additional gross weight of the MPV.

The diesel will be the 1.3 l smart-tech co-developed by Fiat and GM which produce max power of 77 HP and max torque of 205 Nm. The diesel may feel a bit under powered with just 77 HP but GM will adjust gear ratios to make the MPV peppy enough.

The petrol engine is likely to obtain 17 km/l(approximately) and the diesel 20 km/l(approximately).

There is a slight chance for a more powerful 90 HP diesel engine (seen on Ertiga) and a 111 HP petrol(seen on Chinese Enjoy) to be available as well in the future.

Pricing will be important to the success of enjoy. 80%  of the manufacturing process of enjoy will be done in India helping GM to price the car competitively. The MPV will priced lower than Suzuki Ertiga between 6.5 and 9 lakhs making it highly affordable. Enjoy s main rivals will be the Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova and the Mahindra Xylo.

Enjoy has some good potential to shatter the Indian market. So we can expect Enjoy to be the leading MPV in India soon. So don't forget Enjoy on your road on April 2013.
