McLaren P1 production variant revealed plus speces

McLaren P1 Production variantMcLaren has revealed their ultra sports car P1 before it is going to be displayed at the upcoming Geneva motor show. Here we have got some images released by McLaren with official spec-sheet. The P1 concept was showcased at the Detroit Motor show held on January. From there it self P1 has generated some huge interest among people.

The P1 will be produced in limited amounts. McLaren informed that they will only make 375 units. Half of the P1s have already been booked. So if you want to buy a P1 go and buy it quickly before the P1 is out of stock. The starting price of P1 is about 1.15 million USD that is about INR 8 Crore. So 4 crore cheaper than the worlds fastest car Bugatti Veyron. The P1 is some sort of a prestige or iconic car for McLaren. It was not developed for profit. So we can expect the car to be more exclusive and to be out of stock soon.

Now here we have the speed figures. The P1 will be in 100 km as soon as you step on the gas. The car will reach 100 km under 3 seconds. The car reaches 200 km/h in 7seconds and 300 comes in at 17 seconds. The top speed of P1 is limited to 350 km/h. This is done with the help of an electronic speed breaker. So if you really need to power up the P1 in India and want to know its true power you have gt to live near the Budh international circuit.

Two exciting features to the special mechanicals of P1 are the IPAS system and drag reduction system(DRS). IPAS system consist of an electric motor which aid the car with more throttle response. Thus helping the car to be more responsive like a non turbo naturally aspirated car. The feature can be enabled easily with the touch of a button mounted on the steering. The DRS feature reduces the drag coefficient to just 0.34 when needed. The feature can be activated by holding the DRS button integrated on to the steering and deactivated by releasing it.

P1 is powered by a 3.8 l Twin Turbo V8 which develops 737 HP of power @ 7500rpmand 720 Nm of torque @ 4000rpm. The added electric motor develops an extra 179 HP and 260 Nm of torque. Combined the P1 produces916 HP of power and 900 Nm of torque. The car is coupled to a 7 speed dual clutch Grazia-no gearbox. You won't have to be worried about the car sucking p fuel as it can run up-to 60 km/h with only electric power. Disc brakes are made using a new carbon ceramic more lighter and stronger than regular carbon ceramic. P1 is the first public car to host these special dis brakes. The tires are from Pirelli P Zero Corsa.

The car is constructed purely in a weight saving manner. The drag coefficient is just 0.34. the down force generated by the car is 600kg. The light weight construction assures the car to be swift sporty and efficient too. The car just weights about 1400 kgs although it has a 3.8 l engine. The P1 is light but as rigid plaint as an F1. Co2 commissions are under 200 g/km.

The interiors of the P1 has a race car set up. The cabin is made with extra light carbon shells. Seats and steering column are adjustable. The P1 is a drivers race car. So we can't expect too many features on the P1. Anyway P1 has:

  • Satellite Navigation
  • Climate Control
  • Audio System
  • Racing Style digital dashboard
