Tata Nano is in deep trouble right now. January sales of Nano has gone down to 1533 units per month. A massive 7.3% decrease than sales in December. Tata Nano is India s cheapest car and has good practicality. But the Indians keep on teasing it as bug or Auto rickshaw.
Tata will launch the new 2013 nano in May. Tata hopes to gain more public interest and appeal with the launch. Tata will improve the interiors to make it look more premium. The exteriors will also be given minor changes to reduce the bug feel.
Tata nano CNG model will be launched by the end of this year. The diesel nano is also in pipeline. But it will not be read soon, we may have to wait till 2014 for the diesel nano in India. Tata have not confirmed the launch of diesel nano in India. This project requires a lot of pony and Tata is not sure whether diesel nano will be a gain or loss.
Any the new updated Nano will get alloy wheels and body graphics are standard. The interiors will get a far more luxurious beige treatment. new nano will have a 2 DIN music system with USB and Aux in as standard too. We can also expect a twin glove box in left side of the dash too.
If 2013 nano is also going to be flop Tata will face tremendous loss over the nano project and may have to discontinue nano. What can help nano at this stage. Submit your opinions through comment box.

I have test driven nano its better than alto800 or M800 interms of safety .Brakes and power could be better but price is half of any entry suzuki model. what it requires is a frontal nose and a boot lid,better placement of battery.better dashboard looks
Tata won't change the looks of the nano on the face-lift. They will spice up the car with some new hot features and equipments thats all. Now nanos sales is pretty low.
There is a wide negative propaganda and mass prejudice mentality about nano car. Whenever I mention about buying nano car, most of them say that it is like an auto rickshaw. It is a waste of money. And they hurl ridiculous remarks about it. But most of them have never had a close look of Nano car. I took one of my friends who always criticizes Nano to Tata Showroom and let him sit on the drivers seat. His sudden remark was "Oh ! I have never thought that the seats are so good and high as Wagon R", and he keep on appreciating the goodness of the car.
This is the mass mentality of the people about Nano car. Let the company conduct massive awareness program and compare its goodness with other cars in term of price and usability.
I am waiting for the 2013 version of Nano and I expect the engineers to come out with less engine noise (is it not possible to fix a silencer?), Power steering, smooth gears and some more space for the rear passengers.
But please do not rise the price for these improvements:-)
Yes you are right, nano is a good car but people are teasing ti as a bug. It wont end until everyone gets to know more. 2013 Nano may get a power steering but platform will not be changed son no increase in space.
We can expect a slight price hike as so many goodies are added to the 2013 nano
i love the car just please find a way to reduce the awful engine noise and i will be first in the queue to buy one. every time i see a car it makes me happy and smile. proud as hell to be an indian then.! :) the car is perfect for everything except the engine sound..! tata i beg u to fix it.. price is not at all an issue.. am wiilling to pay upto 4 lacs to buy a nano if u can fix uit.. honest !> arun chennai.>!
